According to the existing principle of diagnosis and care of patients following 'clinical pathways' any serious enough (or suddenly developed, acute) condition is subject to in-hospital evaluation and treatment by qualified specialists in relevant fields, using sophisticated modern equipment.
On admission to the hospital for elective treatment – conservative or operative, patients are required to bring a hospitalization referral (№7) from their general practitioner. On the appointed on the primary visit day, patients arrive to the hospital, hospitalization documentation (patient charts) is filled up in the admission rooms – №11 and № 6 (for OB/GYN patients) located on the ground floor of the hospital’s outpatient unit.
A referral is not necessary for the hospitalization of emergency cases, of patients who do not have health insurance and of those who wish to be admitted without having the required documentation from the general practitioner (NHIF referrals) – they pay the examination and treatment costs according to the hospital's price list.
All new admissions are examined by qualified specialists and a treatment plan is set up and explained to the patients, clearly defining the risk and nature of every diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. Patients are acquainted with the charter of their rights and with the internal order rules of the hospital.
After completion of treatment or following surgery the patient is discharged at the discretion of the treating physician. A discharge summary and a temporary disability paper are issued.
