ITALIAN PROFESSOR MAKES DEMONSTRATION OF SPINAL SURGERY WITH MINIMAL BLOOD LOSS AT ST. SOFIA HOSPITAL
Italian professor of endoscopic spinal surgery William Raffaeli will present for the first time in Bulgaria mini-invasive spinal surgical procedures. On Friday, the guest will operate in the St. Sofia Hospital in order to present the most modern method of treatment of failed spinal surgery and and of multi-level degenerative disk disease.
Prof. Raffaeli is head the Chronic Pain Treatment Clinic in Rimini, Italy. He is a professor at the University of Bologna and and a consultant to the Minister of Health on the treatment of spinal and chronic pain. He has performed over 1000 similar procedures and has trained neurosurgeons, orthopedicians and pain therapists from across Europe.
In periduroscopy the epidural space is penetrated and rigorous neurolysis is performed, under endoscopic control, in order to remove degenerative or postoperative dural adhesions.
Around 4 p.m. on Friday – 13.11.2009 after his last operation, Prof. Raffaeli will give a briefing to journalists from the central media and specialized medical journals, in the meeting room of St. Sofia Hospital, to present the mini-invasive and high-tech methods used for the treatment of spinal pathology. Questions will be answered by hosts Dr. Kalin Mihov and Dr. Christo Mazneykov.
